Wednesday May 8, 2019 – Here we go!
This morning we were able to have a tiiiiny bit later of a start with a 6:54am flight, instead of the typical 6:00am flight. When the alarm goes off at 3:00am instead of 2:00am, it makes a huge difference. Of course, I was the first one up and jumped into the shower before sounding the “Let’s go to Cancun” horn. It didn’t take much to get everyone going this morning, but Mexico will do that. The only reason to be up this early must have passports involved. We loaded up the truck in the rain and were out of the house on time, at 4:15am.
Ride to the airport was rainy, the forecast for the next several days. Bye Bye Rain. Bye Bye Des Moines.
Check in was a breeze with only a handful of people in line for security, so we were pretty early.
Gov was so excited, he could not stand waiting for the plane to board. The rest of us were fairly zombie like.
The flight to Minneapolis was quick and on time. Maddie and Gov had their own row and I sat right behind them, Mike’s in Comfort+ so he doesn’t arrive with crushed knees. We had only enough time to get to the gate, use the potty and it was time to board.
The flight from Minneapolis departed on time. Kids and I have a row to ourselves and Mike has just about all of Comfort+ to himself. We’re settled in, kids are watching movies and next stop…CANCUN!
Flight was long, it’s 4 hours from Minneapolis and the kids were getting restless. I was so shocked that they didn’t fall asleep with the 3:00am wakeup call and nowhere to go except our little row. But, with the ability to play though the Delta Entertainment system, it kept them busy and awake. So, that’s going to be fun later.
Upon arrival into Cancun, customs took about 30 minutes, WAY WAY WAY better than when I escorted MBI last March; a Wednesday, early afternoon in May is the way to go. My travel advisor really knows her stuff, just sayin. Funny how my birthday and anniversary both fall during great travel times. Another reason that I don’t like to be home for either of them.
Once through Customs & Immigration and through the timeshare gauntlet we found the AMStar people right outside and were shown to our private transfer to our 1st stop of the trip, Dreams Playa Mujeres.
The ride to the resort was about 40 minutes with traffic through Cancun. Not terrible and thank goodness Govy finally fell asleep. Airport Van sleep is not the best but today, any kind of sleep is welcome and needed.
We pulled into the gated Playa Mujeres community and still had about 5 minutes past some of the other resorts in the area. Upon the drive up to Dreams, it reminded both Mike and I of Dreams Riviera Cancun. On arrival, we were not disappointed, the cold, aromatherapy towels, were waiting, right out of the van. Ugh, so a favorite after traveling for hours. There is nothing like being greeted with ice cold, delightful smelling towels to freshen up your face and hands. The vast, open lobby welcomes you with a stunning view through to the water. My happy place!! The lobby is to the left and there is a beautiful lobby bar to the right, all open air with seating that overlooks the resort.
We were escorted to the Preferred Club Lounge to check in. Oh, the hotel snob in me loves that part too. It’s so nice to check-in, in the lounge with a relaxing atmosphere, personalized service and a cold beverage! While I was getting us checked in the kids and Mike were able to have a snack of more “real food” since all we have had at this point are Delta Snack Boxes and the few little snacks that I had brought with us. It was time for a cerveza…ah. We made it. NOW, Mama can relax!
From the Preferred Club Lounge, we were shown to our Preferred Club Ocean View King Jr Suite with Sofa bed, room 6514. We’re on the top floor of Building 6 and are not facing into the resort, which I do love. We are facing out with a beautiful ocean view that includes a view of Isla Mujeres and Cancun from afar.
It was about 3:30pm by the time that we got into the room and mildly settled, and I had a chance to have my first COKE LIIIIIIIGHT!!! Oh, sweet deliciousness, how I have missed you…since last month in the DR.
The kids were all about swimming, so we jumped into suits and headed to the pool, their pick. The resort is not full, due to the time of year, so we had the pool to ourselves which the kids loved. After some pool time, the kids wanted to head to the kid’s waterpark, so off we went to check that out. Mike and I relaxed poolside while the kids played. Shocked that they were still going, we finally headed back up to the room around 6:00pm to get ready for dinner and some real food. But, on the way back we had to stop by Dulce for ice cream. COCONUT Ice Cream. Told Mike that if they could not find me, I’d be elbow deep in that stuff. For.Real. Maddie also tried the coconut and said, “Mama! There is real coconut in this!” “Yup, Maddie, there really is!”
We decided that it would be best with our really long day to hit the World Café Buffet, so we could pick and choose, and the kids would not have to wait. They had lots of nice, fresh choices aaaaand cook to order Street Style TACOS! Kids had burgers and Mike tried a little of a lot of things but he liked the mahi mahi best.
After dinner we walked out to Casino Night. It was about 7:30pm and I was so ready to be done but they were handing out tons of “free money” so we decided to play. Together we tried a couple of the different tables, kids counted blackjack and dice, so it was really like a tiny Math Class, right? I mean the family that Casino Nights together….um, yea, no. We ended up with $891,000 pesos. After the tables closed, we were told to head to the showroom lounge for the prizes and evening show. Well our $891,000.00 pesos landed us in 1st place, with Maddie on the stage collecting our Grand Prize, a goodie bag of cool stuff: Maracas, Beautiful Royal & Black flower necklace (AGSA colors), painting, hand painted coin purse, wood carved turtle and a bottle of Tequila. And then the flashback to Mazatlán in the late 80’s/early 90’s when Jr High Kala was on stage wining a bottle of Tequila. Mike went up and got the bottle but Maddie & Govy were delighted with the Grand Prize!
The evening show started after the prizes and we stayed for a number or two. It was really hot in there and we were done.
Back in the room about 9:30pm our little party animals climbed into bed, read and journaled a little bit and then finally crashed.
Wow this day!
Thursday, May 9, 2019 – Play Day
Lazy mornings at home are nice but in the back of your head there is ALWAYS something that you need to or should be doing. But lazy vacation days are truly the bestest because what do you really HAVE to do? Nothing. You have nothing you haaaave to do. Your biggest decisions are which restaurant for breakfast? Which Preferred Club beach bed palapa do you want, one with more shade or one with more sun? To me, this is why realxy beach family time is so important. You get to leave alllllll the HAVE TO’s at home and get to do all the WANT TO’s together, or when the kids are in the kid’s club for a bit. 😉
This Thursday morning was no race out the door, since yesterday was the longest day in the history of the world. We were slow starting but even with the lack of sleep yesterday, we were all up by around 8:00am, which for our kids, is totally sleeping in.
After swimming suits were on, sunscreen was slathered, sand toys were gathered, and beach bags were ready it was off to the World Café for breakfast. The World Café is the buffet and I was looking for 1 thing, Mexican Breakfast Nachos and Dreams Playa Mujeres did not disappoint! You will find all the usual breakfast fair, omelet station, freshly made waffles, and they even had a crepe station where Maddie was able to get a warm Nutella stuffed crepe, um, good morning!
The staff is all very friendly and helpful. But we usually find that if you are nice to them, they will be nice to you. Kindness is international!
From breakfast we had 1 location in mind. The.Beach.
We headed to the Preferred Club beach area, one of my most favorite reasons to be in the Preferred Club is the Preferred Club beach area. Here you will have lots of palapa beach beds, beach concierge and beach service. There is also a Preferred Club Beach Bar in this section as well. Perfect for my lazy, vacation behind. We opted for the palapa with more shade because this red head is not as down with being a lobster as I once was. The breeze in Playa Mujeres is killer, you will find it throughout the resort and all the way to the water.
The beach here is spectacular, powdery, white and deep. We headed into the water and it was perfect, cool but not cold and there’s no seagrass or squishy ocean floor, perfect for playing. We looked for shells, jumped waves, played in the sand and spent a great couple of hours in my happy place. Maddie. my aqua bambino was loving it and always had an extra ear and eye on Govy, and happy to help if the current was starting to drift him a bit too far. Govy, my not-so-sure about the ocean bambino really came into his own today both in the ocean and in the pools. He’s always been way more stand off-ish with the water but today he finally was able to realize all the fun that can be had which was so fun to be able to watch and experience. By the end of the day, he could not get enough of jumping in by himself, with no mama or dada needed to catch him. Holding his breath under water and trying to do handstands with a life jacket on. YES. So, excited that my little man is coming around to love the water like the rest of us.
From the beach, I took Govy to check out the Explorer’s Club. The facility was having some work done today so, they had moved to the Kids Pool area for today. I got both kids signed up, Gov signed in and then went to get a change of clothes for him, so he could have lunch with them. On the way back to the room I also stopped at the Core Club, the teen center to get Maddie signed up for the batting cage at 3:00pm. Someone is missing practice today at ISA (due to rain at home), so she could get her cuts in here! When I had gotten back to the Kids pool area, he didn’t want to eat lunch with them, of course, so we headed to find Mike and Maddie. We found them at one of the lower pools by the Sea Legs swim up pool bar and jumped in with them. Maddie tried her 1st Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada…no booze!! Her favorite was the Pina Colada, my coconutty girl!
About 2:00pm we headed back to the room to take a break from the sun, get ready for Maddie to bat and lunch.
The Core Club, is in our building, building 6, on the lowest level. So, a quick elevator ride from 5 to PB and it was time to get in the cage. They had one aluminum bat that was shorter than Maddie’s but hey, you work with what you got, right? It took a minute to get the machine set and she went about 5-6 rounds.
Back to the World Café for lunch as the Pool Grill had a limited menu. We caught the tail end of lunch, so they were out of empanadas and they were not bringing anymore out. ☹.
Dessert was back at Dolce for ice cream. I went for the mango and coconut, Mike the pastiacio and coconut and Maddie when for the coconut and chocolate. Govy, hard pass.
After lunch we had a little quiet time with iPads while I got some work done and then back into suits.
We were going to hit the Grotto swim up bar, but it had closed, so we jump in one of the upper tier pools, because it was in the shade and played for a couple more hours. It was about 7:45pm before we dragged our little fish back upstairs to get ready for dinner.
Once showers were taken, we were all kind of tired, so we decided to order room service and have a hotel room picnic. Room service selection is decent, we opted for burgers and Mike got a club sandwich and cheesecake to top it off. It took about 30-40 minutes and the kids were almost asleep, but they pulled it out and then fell right to sleep not 15 minutes after they finished.
As far as play days go…pretty darn awesome.
Thursday May 10, 2019 – More of the same
This morning was another one of those lazy mornings that I dream about. We slowly got ready in suits and then headed to breakfast at the World Café.
We popped into the Explorer’s Club after breakfast to check on the schedule for the day. Govy was excited for the the video game tournament and Maddie was excited for bracelet making. But both of those activities were in the afternoon so Mike went back to the room to take his medicine and the kids and I stopped at the Grotto Bar to swim up for a Sprite. Mike met us there and then we headed to la Playa. We were able to get a palapa beach bed in the back row, dropped our stuff and then into the water we went. We played and hunted for shells until about 1:00pm and then it was time to take a break from the sun and get the kids ready for the Explore Club. We went to the Tides Pool Grill to get a burger before we dropped them off.
Got them all checked in and then Mike and I headed to the room to have a tiny bit of peace and quiet. I worked on my blog and Mike watched a bit of TV. I didn’t reapply sunscreen quick enough this morning and started to turn lobster-ish so we didn’t head back to the water.
After about an hour and a half we went to check on the kids. On the way to the elevator we peeked over the building and saw that they were in the teen center at the bungee trampoline looking pitiful. They yelled up that they were done, so we sprang them for a bit before time to go back for the movie.
The kids club movie, The Book of Life was to start at 6:30pm, so we had a little bit of time. The resort was setting up for the Mexican Fiesta Night where they also had artisans come in with their wears as well. So, we cruised the stalls and then headed up to the Lobby Bar to sit in the breeze and chug some water while they finished setting up for the dinner.
Once the kids were back in the kids club for the movie, it was Date Night! Mike and I decided we’d go to the Brazilian restaurant for dinner. Typically long pants are required but they had the option for shorts but you had to dine outside or if you had long pants on, you could dine inside. The breeze was nice and he was in shorts so we opted for outside. The salad bar was inside and it was wonderful! The only hiccup was that when we were ready for the meant portion, the wedding party that was also dining on the patio had come to dessert, so we had to wait about 15-20 minutes to be served. (This is why when it comes to wedding groups, they are not crazy about doing larger group dinner reservations and push for the private dinners) Annoying, since we knew we were on a limit time frame with the kids in the kids club. The meat was all really good and flavorful, says the carnivore from Nebraska. Just was we were finishing our main course and eyeballing the dessert cart, the phone rang; kids were done. So, no dessert for us tonight, waa waa.
The kids were at the Fiesta Show so we grabbed them there, got them a little bit to eat from the Fiesta Buffet and then headed back to the room to start to pack up for our move tomorrow.
It’s been a DREAM, but now it’s time for one of the modern wonders of the world. Next up, Chichen Itza!
Saturday May 11, 2019 – Living History and On the Move
Beep beep beep, oh alarm clocks on vacation stink but this will be worth it. 6:45am wake up call and it’s time. To get moving. I dragged everyone out of bed and gave the bell desk a call. The bellman was up right away and then we were off to a quick breakfast.
We had time to make a quick trip through the buffet, nachos nachos nachos and then Gov and I headed up to check out, deal with the bags.
There was a bit of confusion with bell desk and our guide. Since we had our luggage, the bell desk assumed airport and the guide asked him if we were the private Chichen Itza tour and he told him airport. Finally the guide, Hugo came over and asked us and all was good. We loaded up, were introduced to our guide Guiermo and off we went! We had a nice van that seated 11, so perfect to spread out and be comfortable. The A/C works great too which is gonna be really nicer after our tour is over.
The ride took about 2.5 hours to get there, it was a on a nice 4-lane freeway. It was long, no way around it. As we were pulling through Piste, the town near the ruins site, our driver stop at the restaurant, Pueblo Maya, where we’ll have lunch later to pick up the tickets to the site. They collect them so we don’t have to stand in line. Heck yes, lord bless the private tour and skip the line tickets.
We arrived to the site around 10:45am, early starts on vacation can blow but arriving to a major tourist site before the masses is a bonus. Oh the number of motor coach buses that we passed along the way.
We had front row, rock star parking. Hugo loaded us up with ice cold bottled water and had nice large umbrellas to hide from the hot hot sun under. Here we go!
With the pre-purchased tickets, we walked right in, survived the trinkets gauntlet and then through the trees, you can start to see the temple of Kulkulkan and then in the clearing approx 1500 years of history hits you with a majestic elegance that is indescribable. Hugo was a wonderful guide, super knowledgeable, patient and totally at our disposal. The best of all worlds, especially when dragging, I mean traveling with a 9 and 6 year old. We toured around the Kukulkan temple, did the clap test, saw and learned about the serpent, got to the surround sound area and then visited the Temple of the Warriors to see chacmools, the reclining rain god with the bowl on his belly that collected the hearts of those sacrificed. Yup, one of the most visually familiar images from Mexico is holding a bowl to collect hearts. We saw the pillars and then it was over to the Ball Court. I’ve seen these pictures since learning about the Mayans in school but to be HERE, living the history, is one of those experiences that are the reason that we travel and the reasons that I do what I do and why I love what I do. I help bring history to life for my family and for clients. It’s an amazing feeling.
It was a bright, sunny day, which meant that it was also 3 blocks short of hell, hot. The kids did well, but just short of 2 hours out there and they were dragging by the time that we were ready to leave, but no lie, Mike and I kinda were too. What an amazing place.
Back in the air conditioned van, Guierimo had cold drinks ready. He pulled out a peach nectar drink and Maddie about fell over, she loved those. Govy and I opted for water and Mike has coke and some water. AND they also had a cooler of cold towels with a touch of mint scent, delightful.
It was a short ride back to Piste and the Pueblo Maya Restaurant for a Mexican buffet lunch. Mike and I thought that it was good but there were slim pickings for our picky eaters. They also had a traditional dance show while eating as well. This was included in our private tour with 1 beverage to go with the buffet. Psst, they had my nachos.
If true touristy fashion, the exit was through a 6-7 room shop with any and every Mexican souvenir that you could think of. I got a Chichen Itza book to go in our travel library, Maddie got a Frida Kahlo fan for her collection and Govy got a wooden truck. Mike opted for the air conditioning in the van, trinkets are not really his thing.
It was another 2.5 hours back to the Cancun area, we all got a tiny bit of of nap and stopped ½ way in the same are that we stopped on the way over. The rest area was vey clean, with not crappy toilet paper, so a nice traveling surprise. I’m a girl, this is a noteworthy.
Once back in the Cancun area, we arrived at Club Med Yucatán Cancun around 4:00pm and were pretty shot. We’re staying in the Aguamarina section that is the 1st section that you encounter as you arrive. This family section has it’s own lobby. We were greeted with cold towels, ice water and tea. Check in was a breeze, we added the premium WiFi, annoying that it’s not included, but gotta have it. Work. Work. Work. G.O. Tino escorted us to our ocean front Aguamarina Family Superior Room. We’re located on the 1st floor, which is kinda like the 2nd floor, the PB level is walk-out and we are right above those. These suites have a separate kids room with 2 twin beds, closets, TV and desk area. Right off that room is a WC for them as well. No lie, 2 toilets in a room for 4 is SO helpful, fantastic feature. The main bath is in the center of the room between the kids area and the master area. Off the main bath are 2 closets and there is another huge set of shelves in the bath area too. That is one thing that I have found in both, storage space for days, but again, lots of Europeans visit Club Med and stay for more than a week since they get tons of vacation so, they need that space.
After we had gotten unpacked and settled it was time to find real food. We headed back to the Aquamarina Lobby area to get the shuttle to the main lobby so we could eat at La Hacienda, the main buffet. Different than Punta Cana, there are more dining choices here, in addition to the buffet. You will also find Taco Arte for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are required for Dinner. The other option is La Eatancia that is open for dinner, with reservations and it’s also the late night, need a cheeseburger and frites, spot as well.
Club Med is slowly turning me into a buffet girl with their French chefs and amazing, high quality food choices. Options on the dinner buffet tonight were anything from pizza for the kids (a real winner for Gov), pasta, sushi, Ostridge, salad bar, quail, fruit, and the breads and cheeses OMG! And guess whaaaaat?! GELATO! Here we go again. Even Mike was like, YES. In addition to the Gelato station, they had miles of other sweet options to choose from too. I am finding that the buffets at Club Med are NOT, AT ALL, like your typical, all-inclusive buffets and I am loving it. Remember that will all the activities that are included at Club Med vacation calories don’t count, whew!
The kids club had a sign-up table right near the restaurant so I was able to get the kids registered and get schedules so we could plan their adventures for our stay. The schedules looked super fun with archery, pool time, sailing, kayaking, beach games, circus school, arts & crafts, etc. Lots to choose from!
After dinner, with our tired tummies full, the itis was setting in and the crazy was coming out in the exhausted kids. It was time to shut it down.
What an incredible day!
Night Night!
Sunday May 12, 2019 – Mother’s Day, a Bit of Work and New Things
Of course the kids were up and chomping at the bit to get going and this mama was hoping to sleep in on this Mother’s Day. So, we slept in a bit and were a bit lazy for as long as possible. I had an appointment for my site visit at 10:30am so we dragged ourselves out of bed and headed to La Hacienda for the breakfast buffet. After breakfast, the Mike took the kids to the Kids Club and I headed to the main lobby to meet Edwin for my tour.
Edwin was a gracious host and lead me through the 5 Trident Jade section, the main part of the hotel, the meeting rooms and into the kids club area. It was so helpful to have a private tour of the property so that I could ask questions and really dig into Club Med Yucatan Cancun.
When visiting the kids club area, Govy spotted me and I thought that he’d want to be done and come with me. He mentioned that Dada forgot to leave his dry clothes and then ran off without a “bye mom” or a 2nd look. YES! So delighted that he’s having such a great time!
After my tour, I met Mike back in the room to change and get ready for the afternoon. We went to check on the kids at lunch (La Hacienda) with the kids club. They were having a great time. Govy stayed with the club for quiet time and Maddie came and sat with us while we had lunch.
While Maddie was with us, she told us all about the awesome time she was having with the club and how much fun archery was. But, she was also excited to be getting back to the club because she wanted to kayak today too.
When Mike and I were done with lunch, I took Maddie to the club and then met Mike in the center of the resort. We popped over to the snorkel center and were just in time for afternoon snorkeling to start. YAY, a Mother’s Day snorkel was a perfect way to spend today. We got our gear and headed out. Club Med Yucatan is located on the world’s 2nd largest reef, next to the Great Barrier in AU. The area was good sized and though the current was a bit rough, we were able to cover almost all of it. I had an issue with the left side of my mask so I swapped that out and was able to see much better. We saw several kinds of fish, some nice coral and there is a lot of seagrass, that is used for fish hiding spaces. After about an hour, we were good and turned out stuff back in. Yay for included snorkeling!
Mike and I took the shuttle back to the Aguamarina section. Once back, we stopped at the bar and there was a beach bed in the pool area that was calling our name…so we answered. We crawled in and relaxed in the breeze for a while, watching some of the windsurfers and people our sailing. We jumped in the infinity pool for a bit and floated around.
I went to get the kids and they are never excited to see me when I come and get them…always a good sign at a family resort. Back in the room, it was time to shower and get ready for dinner. The kids were going to eat with the kids club, go to the kids show and dance. Mike and I were off to date night at Taco Arte. Woot! The ability to have some Mama and Dada time while the kids are off with new friends in a safe and totally fun environment is one of my favorites! I mean, everyone wins. Mama and Dada can have a NICE dinner together and the kids don’t have to wait through a longer dinner when there is fun to be had.
Our dinner at Taco Arte was delicious! Traditional Mexican fare with lots of great choices. I started with a bean and avocado tostada, Mike with the Taco Arte tostada and then he got ceviche. For the main course, I had steak tacos , Mike steak and chorizo pork skin tacos and we share the best chicken enchiladas in GREEN sauce and not the red enchilada sauce that is smothered on everything in the US. Service was great but slow so we didn’t have time to have the dessert that we ordered because it was 8:50pm and we had to pick up the kids in the theater by 9:00pm.
I arrived at the theater just before 9:00pm where they were dancing and our kids were nowhere to be found. After a quick heart stopping moment, Flo came up and said that Gov was upset about losing the Girls vs Boys game and wanted to be done, so they were out looking for us. They found Mike and then Maddie and I came back in because she wanted to dance. By the time we got back it was over and she was sad that she didn’t get to hang.
With everyone needing sleep it was time to shut it down and save up for tomorrow, our last full day.
Night Night Club Med Yucatan Cancun!
Monday May 13, 2019 – Our last full day!
The kids had mentioned that they only wanted to spend a little time in the kid’s club today and then have some beach time on that gorgeous main beach. Can do!
After breakfast at La Hacienda, I took Maddie to Archery and watched her kill it for a bit and then passing back by the kids club, Govy wanted to go swim with his friends, good thing that Mama planned ahead and had all his stuff…just in case…not my 1st rodeo. So, I also got him checked in too.
Once he was in and settled it was about time for Maddie to be done and she wanted beach time. So, Maddie and I got to have a little Mama & Me time at the beach, fun! I was on the lookout for the littles to come though for lunch and we grabbed Gov and then I went to get his swim stuff and the 3 of us had some beach time while Mike took a nap. We spent an hour or two in the water and then I tried to drag them out for lunch and the agua-bambinos didn’t want to get out of the water…can’t say that I blame them but we needed to eat a little something and take a break.
While relaxing under the sails by the Creperie we saw Flo come though with the littles to go Sailing. She asked Govy if he wanted to go and I gave him the option, lunch or sailing. He opted for sailing and off he went. Maddie also wanted to go and when Tino came through with biggers, she jumped in with them. So, Mike and I got to have lunch together at La Hacienda. By kids, I guess!
After lunch we saw Maddie’s group heading to the pool and I went to get Govy. He came back to the room with me for a little quiet time before all the fun of our last night. When we got to the room, there it was, sitting on the bed, staring at us…the sad packet with the departure details. Noooooo. I don’t wanna got back to reality! I mean really, it’s over-rated. Ha!
I went to get Maddie a little after 5:00pm so she and Govy could swim at the Aguamarina pool and we passed each other in carts, me going to collect her and her coming back on her own.
We headed down to the pool for a little bit, not a ton of time before dinner with their friends and the kid’s club and we had dinner reservations at 7:30pm at La Estiancia. The pool was a lot busier than it was a day or two ago, as arrivals keep coming after the buyout. No worries, Mike and I were still able to score a palapa so we could chill while the kids played.
We headed up a little after 6:00pm, everyone got ready and we were back at La Hacienda to get the kids settled. Once they were good to go, we headed down to the center courtyard where a market was set up with trinkets and souvenirs. We popped into the Gift Shop to take a look at the t-shirts so we could take the kids back to pick one out. We then had our pictures taken with the Mayan Warriors, fun.
It was about time for our dinner reservation, so we walked over to La Estiancia, located off the main lobby. This was the steak house and it did not disappoint! We let our waiter know that we had kids in the club and were under a bit of a time limit, I was not missing out on the house favorite, crème brulee. He was great with the timing throughout dinner. We both had the charcuterie to start and cheese empanadas and then came the steaks, mine the ribeye and Mike had the t-bone, delighted with both. And the best part…crème brulee for dessert. My very favorite dessert and it was so big that we could not even finish, and boy did I try.
After dinner, we were early to the theater, the kids were enjoying themselves, so we sat in the back and waited for the show to end.
Once over, we took the kids back to the gift shop, so they could pick out a Club Med Yucatan Cancun shirt and then it was back to the room.
Another great Club Med day!
Tuesday May 14, 2019 – Sad Bus Day
I puffy heart waking up here, throwing back the curtains and bam, it hits you like a living postcard. I mean you can feel the sea spray form the balcony. While the beach in the Aguamarina section was not swimmable, blasted seaweed (tell me Global Warming isn’t a thing), the view is out off this world because we are so close to the water. Love it.
We were up and moving earlier today. I guess trying to shove in as much as possible at the last minute will do that. Both kids wanted to do Archery one more time before we left, so we went to breakfast and then took them over. Gov’s age was 1st but Maddie was able to get in and do it during that time as well as the timeframe for her age group too, she was happy to be able to double down before the sad bus.
After dropping them one last time in the kids club, we headed to the Photo Studio to check the pictures that were taken during our time here at Club Med Yucatán Cancun.
Mike and I also got a few shots in as well. When Gov’s group was done, the 3 of us headed back to the room to pack. Le sigh. Walking back to the room, Gov got to stop back by the club to give Flo a hug.
Maddie came back to the room as we were finishing so it was time for one last lunch at La Hacienda before the sad bus.
We ran though the buffet quickly, one last time, jumped the shuttle back to Aguamarina to check out and catch out taxi to the airport.
Adios Club Med Yucatán Cancun! You will for sure see the Moore’s again!
The taxi ride to the airport was 10-ish minutes, quick and easy and $25.00 USD.
Upon arrival to he airport, we hit the kiosk and it said that we had a misconnect. Say, Huh? So, we headed up to the desk to check the situation. The Agent stated that there was no delay, so he got us checked in no problem. The problem came in when they weighed the 2 big suitcases, both were overweight, so the airport shift was in full effect. Once we got them to where they needed to be, it was off to security.
Security was not terrible, several lanes open and we were through and spit into Duty Free. We’re good on Vanilla, so no need to stop. We headed to the gate and waited for the plane.
We boarded with no issues and on ya va, back home to the US we go!
Adios Mexico!

Hi! Which resort did you prefer? We are planning a trip and I’d love to know! Thank you in advance!
